INTERVIEW WITH THE MINISTER A few days ago I was fortunate enough to have an interview with the Western Australian Environmental  Minister, the Honorable Stephen Dawson, MLC (You might want to know, if you don't already, that MLC after a parliamentarian's name means Member of the Legislative Council and MLA after a parliamentarian's name means Member of the Legislative Assembly!), and I spent nearly 45 minutes talking to him and inquiring about the future plans of WA and general initiatives. I was also lucky enough to gain permission from his Senior Media Advisor to tell you that I got to interview him! I thought it would be great for you to find out a little bit about what I have been up to!  Here is some info about what I got up to! It was so inspiring talking to him and I would love to interview him again to find out what has evolved in Western Australian Sustainability and what they are working towards! I had the honor  to meet with the Minster for the...

Straws Suck!

STRAWS SUCK! Straws... Did you know that those innocent plastic straws exist for up to 200 years playing havoc with the environment? We only use straws for 15 minutes and discard them after that.  They get forgotten about and hang around in oceans destroying waterways and killing marine life where the get mistaken for being food due to their shape and their astonishingly bright colors, similar to those of their prey .  Lately, I have been looking at the number of items that are not very important and create unnecessary wastage. This is unbelievable, considering that is just for Australia! I dread to think of the amount of plastic straws used worldwide each year! A whole lot. Seattle banned the straw in 2018 and the whole of England is on track to ban all plastic str...

Hi, I am Ellie and I am 10 years old and I think the planet's well being should be a global priority. I mean are there any other planets out there that we know have life? We need to treasure our planet because it is probably the only one. How lucky are we to live on it! What are we doing to our planet? That's a really big question. Way, Way to big for most of us to conceptualize. Let's start a bit smaller. Let's just look at our world...Our own little bubble that we exist in. The concept that soon there will be more plastic than fish or the temperature on earth will have risen 2 degrees is almost unfathomable. We need to do something soon. We have to move from the camp of inaction to the one of action. But don't worry, there are ridiculously simple ways to do this, and you'll f...
