Introduction

It's all about the vision.

The vision of our Planet, the country, the state, the suburb, the community, our family and my world. Interested?

Welcome to Ellie's Planet...

Hi, I am Ellie and I am 10 years old and I think the planet's well being should be a global priority. I mean are there any other planets out there that we know have life? We need to treasure our planet because it is probably the only one. How lucky are we to live on it!

What are we doing to our planet? That's a really big question. Way, Way to big for most of us to conceptualize. Let's start a bit smaller. Let's just look at our world...Our own little bubble that we exist in.

The concept that soon there will be more plastic than fish or the temperature on earth will have risen 2 degrees is almost unfathomable. We need to do something soon. We have to move from the camp of inaction to the one of action. But don't worry, there are ridiculously simple ways to do this, and you'll find some of these in my next blogs... These are things that you can do independently so that you can say that you have played your part in the battle to save the environment!

Our own community starts with our family...and it grows from there. It is a lot to think about but what a wonderful thing to ponder...

Also, you may think my blog is just about the environment...but, my life is so more than just the environment, so be prepared to learn about my passions, pursuits and personality! (Some good alliteration there!) On my blog there will be so many different things, from Music to Mathematical madness!

I am in year 6 and I have been appointed the Sustainability Captain for 2020, but because of COVID-19, I haven't really got to do much in my role. Hence, I thought I would do something outside of school. That is why I have started a blog.

I also have some more exciting news for you, but I still need to confirm a few things...so I will tell you in one of my later blogs, probably in late May or maybe early June, so you will have to wait a little, but you will find out soon!!

I would love to know if you are doing something to save the planet...and if you are, I would enjoy hearing about your efforts in the comments!

My next blog post will be about how YOU can help save the planet in 2 EASY steps, related to reducing plastic waste. Keep a look out for it! Just hit the subscribe button. That way you won't miss a thing!

I hope you have a great day, and I will see you soon in my next blog!

Thanks for reading this post, and I look forward to hearing from you and about how you have done something to save the world...if so, congratulations! You are already on your way to becoming a Climate Combatant...

Stay safe!

  4. Hi Ellie,
Very inspirational. I read an article recently that said the hole in the Ozone layer has started to close.

It was suggested the majority of the population were in isolation or lock down due to COVID19 and not doing their usual everyday things. Hence less pollution and the layer had a chance to repair.

I wonder if corporations and everyday people could alter one or two things, we could reverse the damage?

    1. Yes...That would be great, and not majorly difficult either! It would make such a noticeable impact on the environment, and I love this quote: "Every small step towards your goals helps" as I think it is so true, and we need to apply this to Climate Change. I have now posted my next blog post, and plan to post another soon about the "surprise" so keep an eye out for that! Have a good week... :) Ellie
